Saving money is something that most parents enjoy because, with kids, money just doesn’t last nearly as long as it used to. This is because there is more involved with having kids than what meets the eye. For example, many first-time parents plan on increasing their food and clothing budgets, but they don’t think about unexpected expenses such as untimely visits to the emergency room or the various fundraisers that will pop up several times a year. With unexpected expenses like these, it’s necessary for parents to find creative ways to save money.
Bargain Hunting: Too many parents make the mistake of thinking that comparing prices from store to store is going to find them the best deal. While comparing store ads will help you save a little money, shopping online and at garage sales will save you even more. Many online retailers offer bigger discounts than your local stores can. As far as garage sales go, there are many treasures to be found there. You may have to will have to get up early to get the best deals, but the money you can save makes up for that.
Accept Used Clothing: It’s understandable that you don’t want your child to be wearing used clothing all the time. However, when your child is still and infant or toddler and doesn’t care what he’s got on, why spend the extra money on new clothing? If you have a friend or relative that has a child of the same gender that’s older than yours, gladly accept any used clothing they are willing to give you. You will save tons of money this way!
Make Sacrifices: The best sacrifices you can make to save money are the ones nobody knows about. For example, consider making your own laundry detergent, buying cheaper toilet paper and cooking with off-brand foods. All of this will save you a lot of money and it’s all stuff that nobody else knows about!
